Serena Williams ruthlessly defeats her sister, Venus at the US Open

Serena Williams defeated her elder sister, Venus Williams in two straight sets 6-1 6-2 on Friday, making the 30th career showdown at Flushing Meadows in New York a one-sided affair.
The 23 Grand Slam winner was literally on fire against her sister, merciless in her blistering returns and making Venus look more like her apprentice. Venus tried to salvage things, but it was not just her night as Serena played her best match since her return to tennis after giving birth to her daughter Olympia in September.
She played pitch-perfect tennis to outlast her elder sister after 71 minutes on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
In her post match interview, Serena showed her sister a lot of respect saying, “It’s not easy. She’s my best friend. she means the world to me. She’s supportive of my career and I’m supportive of her career. Every time she loses I feel like I do. It’s not very easy but it’s a tournament and we know there’s more to life than playing each other and playing tennis. I love her with all my heart. She’s the reason I’m here. She’s the only reason I’m still out here. After God, I definitely owe everything to her.”
Serena next meets Kaia Kanepi, the 33 year-old Estonian star, who beat Rebecca Peterson 6-3 7-6 in an earlier third round match.

SARS official dismissed over N5,000 extortion while three other accomplices had their ranks reduced (Photos)

Inspector Charles Omotosho, an operative of the Federal Special Anti-Robery Squad (FSARS), who extorted N5,000 from some road users in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, has been dismissed.
A Twitter user, Princess Ife, on May 16, claimed that Omotosho threatened to shoot at them except they paid a 'ransom' of N5000.
She tweeted: “With my encounter today, it is safe to say SARS are armed robbers. Was going for a shoot in Ikorodu today and armed member of SARS pulled us over and made us pay for no reason. Threatening they were going to waste our lives. I made a transfer so that they can be traced."
The Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) of the Police Force, while responding to the allegation, promised to investigate the issue and make findings of the investigation public. Almost three months after the incident, PCRRU announced the dismissal of Omotosho, following the police’s investigations.

''I can swear with my life that no politician has ever gifted me money'' - Seyilaw reacts to controversy over his newly acquired apartment

Comedian, Seyilaw has reacted to the post by Nigerian journalist, Oma Akutugba, where he called on the police to investigate Seyi's source of income following the recent testimony he shared online about his newly acquired house. Seyi in a post shared on his IG page with photos of his new apartment, said he had only N63, 000 prior to when he bought the apartment. Read here .
Akatugba then took to his twitter handle to say that the comedian's testimony is misleading and that in a saner clime, the police would have been investigating Seyi's claim of having such a meager sum in his account before acquiring such a tasteful apartment. Read here .
ReactIng to Akatugba's call, Seyilaw in an interview with Punch, said he welcomes the calls for an investigation
''I feel that it is good that Nigerians are asking questions. If someone asks the police to investigate me, I think it is a good thing but I think that there are people we should demand that from. We should demand more of that from our politicians. If someone demands that the police should investigate, it is not a bad thing. However, one thing people should know is that I am one of the very few entertainers that can swear on his life that no politician has gifted me money. Everything that I own today came from my sweat. One of the questions the journalist who called me out on social media should have asked is, ‘have I fully paid for the house?’ He did not ask me and that is part of his stupidity and where he made mistakes''he said
When asked how he was able to afford the apartment, the comedian said
“If I invested about N15m in my Lagos show and made about N20m, I do not think I have made too much profit. If I invested about N5m in my Ibadan show and made about N9m, I do not think I have made too much profit. It means that I made a profit of about N9m. I also did a show in Port-Harcourt and right now, I am planning another show in Lagos. When I said that I lost some money at the shows I did in the UK and Dublin, I did not mean that I lost everything I invested. The reason I said I was so broke that I had N63,000 in my account was because I had paid for the hall I would use for my Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja and Port-Harcourt shows among other expenses and it ran into millions of naira. These were investments that cost me about N20m. If I invested N20m for my shows and had N63,000 in my account, does that mean that I do not have money? I spoke about my landed property in the post but no one referred to it.
I would not stop posting my testimonies on social media. I have been on a tour with PAL Pension, and my duty was to motivate students. The journalist that made that statement about my post is someone that knows me.
He could have messaged me privately to explain how I was able to buy a house based on my testimony but he did not do that. That is the way a journalist is supposed to ask questions. I repeat it again and I swear on my blood and that of my mother’s that I have never been gifted money by any politician. I dare any politician to come out and say they have given me money. In fact, I have been the one that have helped most rich people I know because I could do a show for them and they would make me do another three for free. Am I not the one helping them? I have helped more people than they have helped me. I am not one of those celebrities that do good things in front of the camera''.
