A woman has been arrested for allegedly scalding her 16-year-old maid with hot water for stealing two eggs.
Mrs. Darasimi Martins, who lives at 16, Olomowewe Street, is said to have sent her teenage house help to buy six eggs but the girl hid two of the eggs for herself when she returned. This angered Mrs Martins when she found out. She then attacked her and poured hot water on her face and body.
This is not the first time Mrs Martins has assaulted her maid but the degree of injury on the girl's body angered neighbours and they contacted the Child Protection Network, CPN, to report the case, The Nation reports.
Confirming the incident, police spokesman Chike Oti, a Chief Superintendent (CSP) said the case had been moved to the Gender Unit for further action.
