Bolanle Ninalowo’s four best cinematic features SHOW BIZ
By GHANIYAH OLOWOYO
RELATED TOPICS: Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo recently took to his Instagram page to disclose his biggest works in the past year. The four movies he mentioned were undoubtedly hit movies in which he played starring roles. GHANIYAH OLOWOYO focuses on the actor’s roles in Husbands of Lagos, Picture Perfect, My kids & I as well as The Gateman.
Husbands of Lagos – Nino as Wale
Wale Teniola Fernandez is a playboy whose good looks work very well to his advantage. WTF possesses this great charm together with the looks that has girls falling at his feet. Apart from the looks, Wale knows how to manipulate his way out of situations and Oma, his Lagos girlfriend, who is apparently too in love to see through his facade, seems to always accept his words, hook, line and sinker.
Unknown to Wale, his US-based girlfriend, Ada, is Oma’s cousin. Even when Ada pays him a surprise visit in his Lagos home, Wale still wriggles his ways out, unscathed. But then, the demon can’t always be lucky, right?
My Kids & I – Nino as Oscar
Oscar depicts a US based father of three beautiful daughters, Michelle, Claire and Anabelle. He lost his wife shortly after the birth of his last daughter, Anabelle and has to bring his girls back to Nigeria for proper upbringing and so they won’t be total aliens to the Nigerian ways.
Oscar is caring. This trait is particularly shown to his children. Even though, he got a nanny, Chikwesili, the kids aren’t so comfortable with her, so, they approach their father for everything. Oscar satisfies the every whim of his kids and goes out of his way to make them happy.
Oscar is overprotective. At every opportunity, he proves that his three kids are his life and he’d protect them with all that it takes. Oscar never let his children go out of his compound except with his supervision, even though the kids feel suffocated in the house already. He dumps his long time girlfriend for the happiness of his children.
Oscar is blunt. He says whatever he wants to, to anybody he wants to, however he wants to. Especially when it concerns his kids, Chikwesili, the nanny bears most of the lashouts.
T he Gateman – Nino as Daniel
Daniel is the son of a successful company owner that has returned home after a long stay abroad, to take over the reins of his father’s company. He, however, chooses to begin from the lowliest position in the company, so as to study the characters and work ethics of the staff.
Daniel is humble and down to earth. Despite being wealthy and being the owner of the company, he works as the gatekeeper, enduring insults and even a slap from his own staff.
Daniel is kind and caring. Despite being “poor” and “lowly”, he still shows compassion to his colleagues like his supervisor, a poor elderly man with kids to cater for. He shows his caring attitude when Frances, got caught in a fist fight and passes out.
Daniel is a disciplined person. Despite the obvious sexual tension between Frances, the head of Human Resource and himself, he still restrains himself from breaking company rules or violating ethics. When he eventually becomes the MD, he rewards his former supervisor handsomely, for possessing same traits.
Picture Perfect – Nino as Jobe
Jobe is like a regular agbero that makes his money on the streets. He helps a lady in distress out of the claws of some notorious touts in the middle of the night, got her a ride to a hotel and secured her car till daybreak. The story goes sour when the lady failed to acknowledge his efforts financially. The events of the night leads to an amusing love-hate relationship between the seamstress and the area boy.
Ninalowo, to the amusement of viewers and his fans, pulled off the role of an area boy perfectly in the movie. He claimed in an interview to have spent weeks being a bus conductor and conversing with people at a garage to get the accent and the styles he nailed his acts with.
Jobe grew up with an inattentive father and as a result, has a low quality education and upbringing. He gave up living well and chose the garage life. He tries to chip in one or two English words when he speaks, like philandering and see you in a jiffy.
Jobe is vengeaful. Even after the fall out with the seamstress was settled by a police officer, he still tracks her down and builds a makeshift office outside her shop. He bothers her with loud music and makes sure to irritate her as much as he can.
Despite having lived his life on the streets and being a hardcore tout, Jobe still has a good heart and knows how to care for people close to him. He remembers what he lacked growing up and he does all he can to make sure his child doesn’t grow up without a father.
